Where can I get gene therapy treatment?

If you’re considering gene therapy, start by talking with your healthcare provider. They will answer your questions about how gene therapy works, explain safety considerations and help you understand if gene therapy is appropriate for you.

Then, your provider might refer you to a treatment center that’s trained and equipped to administer gene therapy.

Where are treatment centers?

Gene therapy treatment centers are located across the country and may be available near your home. If there aren’t providers near you who can administer gene therapy, or if you have to wait a long time, your provider may refer you to a treatment center in another community.

Why is gene therapy only given in specialty treatment centers?

Gene therapy is given at specialized centers because it takes a coordinated team of experts. That includes doctors, pharmacists and nurses who are trained in gene therapy. Their role is to make sure the treatment is administered safely and correctly.

At these treatment sites, the gene therapy team also receives special training to support you through the process leading up to treatment and throughout the post-treatment monitoring requirements.
